Announcements

After the analysis of the travel survey submitted at the end of 2021, the ICIC Executive Committee made the decision to postpone the ICIC general meeting (GM) for about another two months. Our decision wasguided by the evolution of the Omicron variant and the anticipation that current travel restrictions could be relaxed in the coming months. The EC members recognize that its cautious optimism may be tempered
by future unknown evolutions of the situation. Hence, we are actively working at proposing an in-person/remote hybrid organization of the meeting. However, it will not be possible to attend the entire GM remotely due to the multiple time zones members could call in. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to make every possible effort to travel to Padova in June.

Please find below the first announcement for the Fifth General Meeting of the International Committee on Irradiated Concrete.

Event Summary

The University of Padova, Italy, will host the Fifth General Meeting of the International Committee on Irradiated Concrete on June 6-10, 2022.

The ICIC Executive Committee meeting will be held at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (Via F. Marzolo, 9 – 35131 Padova) on June 6th, 2022, while the General Meeting will take place on June 7th , 8th and 9th 2022 at the Aula Magna of Engineering School (Via Leonardo Loredan, 20 – 35131 Padova). On June 10th the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) – National Laboratories of Legnaro (LNL), Padova, will host the participants of the ICIC Meeting for a technical visit.

The ICIC was formed to provide a forum for broad technical interactions in research on the effects of irradiation on concrete used in nuclear applications, such as nuclear facilities, storage, and disposal sites, and which will contribute to advancing the current state of knowledge. Like the framework meetings held in Barcelona (March 2014), Helsinki (October 2014), and the First General Meeting in Knoxville (November 2015), the Second General Meeting in Nagoya, Japan (November 2016), the Third General Meeting in Prague, Czech Republic (November 2017), and the Fourth General Meeting in Knoxville (November 2018), participants will have an opportunity to present updates on their work related to irradiated concrete. These updates may vary from detailed discussions of new results or brief updates or summaries of their activities. And since this meeting is expected to attract additional participants, the new participants will be encouraged to present a broader discussion of their previous, current, or proposed activities on irradiated concrete.

Important Meeting Deadline

Participants must notify intent to participate (with draft title and suggested TA session) by March 31st, 2022, by emailing the corresponding Technical Area Coordinator and copying the Executive Committee Members.

Participants must register for the meeting by April 29th, 2022, on the registration website managed by University of Padova (See registration section). When applicable, presenters must confirm their presentation titles by email sent to the appropriate TACs (Please copy the Chair and the local organizer). Presenters must provide a copy of their presentations to the Session Chair by April 29th, 2022. Presenters must provide the final version of the presentation to the Session Chair (with sensitive information removed) by June 30th, 2022.

Technical areas and technical area coordinators

The Closed Technical Meeting (members and invited guests) will be focused around the four Technical Areas revised by vote of the members at SGM. The Technical Areas (TAs) and the Technical Area Coordinators (TACs) (Session Chairs) are as follows:

Registration

The registration and fees collection (230 Euros) are handled directly by the University of Padova. Registrations will be opened in the coming days by following the registration link.

The registration includes presentation materials, lunch, refreshment breaks, and the costs related to the technical visit, that is: transportation to/from the National Institute of Nuclear Physics – Legnaro National Laboratories (INFN-LNL) in Legnaro, Padova and lunch.

Registration completion and payment

Once your registration is submitted online a confirmation will be sent by email within 5 to 10 minutes.

Refund/cancellation policy

There is no refund/cancellation policy, therefore we strongly suggest planning your participation carefully and register within the deadline of April 29th, 2022 (12:00 AM, Central European Time).
